Letters from the Fairies

Our good friends at "Letters from the Fairies" send letters in the post to share magic, joy & inspiration from different fairies each month.

There is even a letter from the Rainbow Hospital Fairy who teams up with the Calm Fairies to share magic in hospital.

Each month, the Calm Fairies team get to choose a special recipient of a donated fairy letter subscription.

Would you like to donate a subscription to help keep the fairy magic alive for kids in hospital?

Save Your Brave

Calm Fairy Stacey presents hospital staff with a framework called "Save Your Brave" which helps paediatric patients with procedural anxiety to stay present so that their anxiety doesn't escalate.

This 25 minute presentation will explain how you can follow 5 steps and utilize simple mindfulness tools to help children stay within their "Window of Tolerance" (coined by Dr Daniel Siegel);  helping to keep their nervous system regulated, making them more likely to co-operate and cope with procedures and less likely to endure ongoing traumatic responses.

This Professional Development was presented at Sunshine Coast University Hospital in February, 2025.

TESTIMONIAL

"I was initially hesitant, having never engaged in mindful activities before, but my first session creating beaded bracelets was supportive and perfectly suited to where I was at. There was no pressure to turn up a certain way, and the warm, gentle approach helped me feel grounded and calm during a very challenging time. Over time, I found I could take a break from my mind and use these mindfulness tools (like focusing on breath and affirmations) whenever I felt overwhelmed.”

Eating Disorder Support

Calm Fairy Stacey first started working with young people diagnosed with eating disorders in 2005 in her role as a Yoga Teacher in the mental health unit in Brisbane, QLD, Australia.

Since then, she has supported thousands of young people during their recovery in hospital, offering a compassionate presence whilst sharing tools that help individuals cope with the stress of diagnosis & initial stages of recovery.

Stacey enjoyed her time with the EndED (End Eating Disorders) team- a group of people with lived experience who have created a safe space offering counselling, group sessions, on-site accomodation and gentle support for individuals living with Eating Disorders.

Stacey was interviewed on the EndED podcast & takes you through a guided meditation. Check it out. Whilst you are there, check out the other podcast episodes which feature informative and inspiring interviews.
