Aphantasia & Guided Meditations

Did you know that around 10–15% of people can’t visualise — a condition called aphantasia?

If a child (or even you!) struggles with visualisation, don’t worry — there are plenty of other ways to guide a calming meditation:

  • Focus on sounds: gentle music, a chime, or soft voice cues

  • Use touch or movement

  • Incorporate the memory of familiar experiences

These alternatives work beautifully. Our Calm Fairies are trained to create meditations that connect with kids who have all different kinds of experiences and capabilities and they are still able to find regulation, even when visualisation isn’t possible.
